Paul Smith OBE

45 years of professional experience in international cultural relations and educational development and in university teaching and research across five continents

From 1978 to 1983 he pursued academic teaching and research as a lecturer in literature at St Stephen’s College, Delhi University, and then tutoring undergraduates whilst pursuing doctoral research in renaissance literature at Cambridge University.

For 40 years from 1983 to 2023 he was a specialist in the advocacy and material promotion and programming of cultural relations as a British Council director in Nigeria, Chile, Burma, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Egypt, India, Afghanistan, USA, Indonesia and Germany and as Global Director Arts in London.
