Dr Lilija Alijeva

Lilija is a Researcher and Consultant at the University of London Institute in Paris (ULIP) and an Associate Editor at the International Journal of Human Rights. Her research focuses primarily on post-Soviet states.

Lilija specialises in the fields of International Relations and International Law and state and non-state stakeholders. Currently, she is conducting research on Knowledge Diplomacy and the wider role of international higher education. Her research focuses on implementation of international norms, International Relations theories, human rights and minority rights, mobilisation and activity of civil society groups, and international development, with a focus on post-Soviet States. She has worked for many years within the academic, NGO, and international civil service sectors. She has been on missions to deliver training as part of the Open Society Foundation’s scholarship programme in Tbilisi (Georgia) and provided consultancy services to several NGOs including the Tom Lantos Institute and Minority Rights Group International. Lilija has published in the International Journal on Minority and Group Rights, and she is currently working on the Knowledge Diplomacy: Developments and Future Trends edited book publication.
