Dr Hendrik W. Ohnesorge

Hendrik is Managing Director of the Center for Global Studies (CGS) and postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Chair in International Relations at the University of Bonn.

Hendrik’s key research areas are power, in particular soft power, in international affairs; U.S. foreign policy, the U.S. presidency, and transatlantic relations; and individual agency in history and global politics. He is the author of Soft Power (2020) which offers a comprehensive conceptual taxonomy of soft power in international relations, develops a methodological roadmap for the empirical study of soft power, and positions and discusses soft power in current debates on power and global power shifts. His current book project explores soft power and charismatic leadership in German-American relations.
