Charles Ebikeme

Dr Charles Ebikeme is a freelance consultant, visiting fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science as well as visiting fellow at United Nations University International Institute for Global Health. He was formerly part of the London School of Economics and Political Science team working on the African Health Observatory Platform on Health Systems & Policies (AHOP). Hosted by the WHO Regional Office for Africa (WHO AFRO), AHOP leverages existing national and regional collaborations to form a network of National Centres that currently include leading research institutions in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Senegal.

 Charles is co-chair of the Africa Action Group of the International Society for Urban Health (ISUH) a multi-stakeholder community of practice to exchange knowledge and practices to advance urban health and promote health equity in the region.

 Charles has recently completed projects for the World Health Organisation, Dalberg, French NGO Global Health Advocates, the Global Fund, International Treatment Preparedness Coalition, Public Services International, and the Africa Europe Foundation.

 Charles received his PhD in Parasitology from the University of Glasgow. His PhD focused on understanding how drugs work against parasites and how parasites become resistant to drugs. He holds an MSc in Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and a BSc in Biochemistry from University College London. He has experience across global health, sustainable development, and urban health. He is based in London, United Kingdom, and speaks English (fluent) and French (professional capacity).
